Moth or Butterfly ? Was walking through my meadow and noticed this insect extracting nectar from this small white flower. Have observed a lot of butterflies, but this one was different, looked like a large colored fly. About 3/4 to 1 inch in size. If anyone knows what this is ,let me know. Thanks

Well now...You have me on a mission. I consulted my Audubon Society Field Guide to N. American Butterflies and have determined this to be some kind of Folded-Winged Skipper. Which species it actually is, is difficult to say... possibilties may be:Rural Skipper, Yehl Skipper, Whirl-About,Common Branded Skipper, or a Hobomok Skipper. I am having difficulty with the range of these species not being in SE Indiana. I'll bring my field guide when I see you next.
